Frankie Valli Tribute

Let's Hang On is a Frankie Valli tribute show. We've been on the road together for 7 or 8 years now. This past week we were in Chicago, Connecticut, Boston, and Ohio for shows. I love traveling with these kids . . . it's like a big family. We get to travel all over the place, see cool places and people, and then work for a couple of hours . . . it's like going on vacation and getting paid for it. We did get to go back to Ohio (my home state), and I'm so glad I got to see some of my family and friends while I was home. I also got to show Heather Krueger one of my childhood places - Lagoon Deer Park.

Not a bad gig at all but, I'm happy to be back in Tampa! On to the next thang . . .

Now Hear This! - Podcast

I was on Now Hear This! Had a great time and interview with Mr. Bruce Wawrzyniak. You can check it out too. My Podcast with Now Hear This, Inc. is out today!!!! Here's some places to check it out!!

Stitcher Radio:

There is also a segment called "Bruce's Bonus" in the middle of each episode, where Wawrzyniak "takes off (his) hat as podcast host and puts on (his) hat as president of Now Hear This, Inc., giving a helpful tip for the listeners that are musicians, singers, songwriters and entertainers who are out there, trying hard to make a go of it."

Um . . . Sir Paul McCartney?!

Why would we ever think Sir Paul McCartney would ever get on stage and sing with us? Well, he DID! We knew we were playing a gig for his step son's graduation, and we knew he would be there, but the rest of the story still blows my mind. I was standing next to him on stage, singing next to him on stage . . . OMG! I still can't wrap my head around the entire thing. Amazing experience that I will NEVER forget.

So, Phase5 was booked a year in advance to play a graduation party for Sir Paul's stepson in Orlando. No biggie (yes it was), that Sir Paul was going to be there . . . BUT to have him get on stage with us, ask us to play and sing with him? I keep saying it, but it doesn't sound real. Soon after, we see all the social media posts with photos of us on stage with him. The local Orlando news station wants us in to do a morning interview about it . . . still crazy! Good morning Orlando! Thanks for having us NBC WESH 2 News!!

That night is definitely going straight to the TOP of my list of amazing things that have happened so far in my life!

Cinco De Mayo - Skipper's Style

Hola! Had never played Skippers before but always wanted to and it was worth the wait. Very cool to be up on a stage underneath that big oak tree and people dancing under the lights.

Mighty Mongo was headlining the event and I got to open up for them. Mighty Mogno is a really awesome local Ska band and it was cool to go on stage before them and then party a little when my set was done.

Afterwards, my friends and I had to toast to Cinco De Mayo - Salute!

Jamaica Mon!

After a crazy couple of weeks, I'm heading out to put my toes in the sand and get a drink in my hand!! Jamaica Mon!!

Someone recently asked me to tell them about my vacation. Well, all I could think of was . . . awesome, amazing,  drank "The Bob Marley" (which is every daiquiri mixed together in one glass) almost every day. It was a mucch needed break. Now back to it!

Peace, Love and Booty Shakin',

Another Opener . . . Austin Mahone

Had another Busch Gardens gig. Got to open up for Austin Mahone. Let's talk about Austin's fans . . . ALL THE SCREAMING TEENAGERS! I know I was probably one of them at one point in my life, but WOW! Okay, okay . . . maybe I used to "stalk" O-Town back in the day when I knew they were in town and what hotel they were staying at, but I never cried, screamed and passed out. Really? Seriously, at one point this van came driving through the service road where we were setting up and a wild pack of teenage girls chased it screaming and crying, thinking that it was Austin Mahone in that van. Ladies, it was just a service van. Ahhhh, to be that young again. Ha!

LIVE in Studio at Bubba The Love Sponge

We passed the "Unsigned Band Review" segment on Bubba's show a couple of weeks ago and he invited us to come in and play LIVE in his studio. My My brother had called me the night before to warn me about Bubba . . . nothing bad, just to be prepared for anything, oh and he might shoot a BB gun at ya if he doesn't like you. What?  We came prepared, we wore goggles and brought our own Nerf guns to fight back, ha!

We get there, had to sign release forms and then waited in the green room to be called up. We've all heard his show before so I knew they could be listening into our conversations in the green room and to be careful . . . ha! This whole experience makes me laugh. Okay, so now it's time and someone from the show comes and gets us during one of Bubba's commercial breaks.  We had to set up, sound check and be ready to play in 8 minutes . . . no pressure, right?

Josh Turner

Well that was better than I imagined, ha! I just played at Busch Gardens Food & Wine Festival, opening up for Josh Turner. Who woulda thunk it?  Well, we kind of knew the person booking the events over there, and we just submitted some stuff like everyone else did. They liked our sound and had originally booked us for a different date, but then Josh Turner was booked, and I guess they thought we sounded like a good fit to open up for him. You know, same kind of genre I guess.

I wasn't nervous or anything, but the heat was insane. I got to watch Josh's band's sound check. It was really cool to watch a national recording artist at work. After our set we watched Josh's concert, but the rain moved in and his set got cut short. He sounded just like his records though . . . awesome experience. Afterward when I was talking to Josh, he told me a kind of funny story about meeting my Dad.

BTLS Unsigned Band Review

I got a text from a friend of a friend this morning telling me to turn on my radio and tune in to 98.7 FM in Tampa to listen to The Bubba the Love Sponge® Show. Bubba does this "unsigned band review" segment each week where he listens to 5 unsigned bands, and he and his crew vote on whether or not they like the music. If they don't like it, Bubba plays a Hulk Hogan pocket fart and they scratch the record (weird, right?). If they like the song/band, well he plays a celebratory approval with applause and cymbals. And apparently he invites you to come in to play live in his studio. We'll see . . . .

Okay, so back to my friend and the text . . . he had heard my name mentioned on Bubba's show and texted me that morning.  I turn it on and they were playing my song!! "Devil in Red Shoes" was playing on the radio!! They liked it too!!  Eeeeeeeee!!
